004 - A strange request by phone

[When you pick up the phone, it's Hiccup on the other end. He clears his throat nervously.]

Uh... well. I have kind of a weird request for everyone. I was hoping that...

[He sighs and decides to just get it over with already.]

Okay I'm wondering if anybody has any extra appliances around the house that they don't need. I've... kind of gone through what we have in the house without anyone yelling at me yet and I'm trying to keep it that way, so. Yeah.

Keep in mind you probably won't be getting it back. I'm trying to figure out how all this stuff works. It's... well. I guess you could say it's for science.

Wait. I didn't do that right.

[He clears his throat, and then in his best impersonation (which is actually pretty spot-on) of Klaus in full spark mode, he says,]

It's FOR SCIENCE!

It's crazy. Everything's new and interesting and I just want to see how it all works!

Sooo, what have you taken apart so far, then? I wanna hear!

Well, the toaster. That one's pretty simple, just wires that get heated up and toast the bread, but they're on a timer. Pretty hard to put that one back together so that it looks alright though.

One of the telephones. I'm still trying to figure out how that one works. There's a whole principle of sound that I'm missing and I'm just not gonna be able to understand it until I get that.

Uh... what else... oh yeah the blender. Had trouble with that one. The hand mixer, that one was easy you can actually see the way the gears fit together and turn everything, but I wanted to take it apart anyway just to see everything individually and put it back together again.

Yeah, I've done all of those! My dad and I invented the blender back home, though, so some of the technology here I've kind of seen before...it's just different. The telephone is a hard one, though.

Have you tried looking at the air conditioners or the cars?

Oh man I haven't yet, mostly because they're so big that I'm a little scared to ask. If I mess up on those then there's no way it's coming back, and someone's gonna be angry.

It's not so hard if you have the right tools! It's something you totally have to try, you won't regret it! Besides, if something breaks, it just comes back while you sleep, right?

That's what happened to the hole my Robbie made in my wall! I didn't even have to do anything, and it was fixed.

Back home, my old man and I are inventors. We're like, the only ones, too, because no one else thinks machines are awesome, right? Sooooo, one day, I built Robbie. I control him with a remote, and he can transform, and he's so cool. He's been broken since I got him back, though.
