027 - Action
Dec. 20th, 2011 12:44 am[A: 729 Anderson Lane] [Hiccup is in the kitchen. He made a present for Klaus. He's been working on it for a couple weeks now, actually, and only just finished it yesterday.
It's a little working model of a dragon. Not exactly a clank or a robot, but more like a metal action figure. You can make it move and have it do all sorts of things. It's by no means perfect, but it's nice and it's cool and Hiccup put a lot of work into it.
It's sitting on the table.]
[B: Around Mayfield throughout the day] [Hiccup will be walking around, looking rather morose, kicking things with his prosthetic leg and just generally trying to avoid people who will think he's fake or have forgotten him or both. Maybe he's downtown looking at the still kind of sparsely stocked shops, or the Christmas decorations, or kicking at the snow.]
[C: At the forge in the evening] [The forge is lit, but mostly for warmth. He's doing detail work on a sword. It isn't for anyone in particular, but it's very well done. He's really become a blacksmithing expert with all the work he's done in Mayfield.]
((OOC: P.S. In case you didn't catch it, Hiccup has been ERASED and will seem FAKEY FAKE if not FORGOTTEN.))

Date: 2011-12-20 07:03 am (UTC)Huh. What's that on the table? He peers at it -- that's funny, it looks almost exactly like something he's got on the workbench in his garage. Did he make this one in his sleep? That's odd. He's usually not one for sleep-sparking but he can't remember why he made the first one so he wouldn't put it past himself.
Then he notices Hiccup and peers at him too. Something about him seems familiar. He could swear he's seen that face before, but where? A lot of drones do look similar...]
What are you doing in here?

Date: 2011-12-20 07:17 am (UTC)Oh no. Has Mayfield taken more of his memories? He searches back, trying to look for any blank spots, and can't find anything glaringly out of order. Huh. But there was nobody for this drone to replace, so why is he so unfamiliar looking?
Good going, Mayfield, you've got him stumped.]
You do? I could have sworn..
[He's completely forgotten about the waffles. It takes a lot to make him do that.]

Date: 2011-12-20 07:21 am (UTC)My name is Hiccup. I'm a blacksmith? You... let me have a spot in the garage before Quinn let me use his forge...
[Why is he explaining all of this? He's only going to forget again, and chances are he won't believe Hiccup anyway. Hiccup sighs and pushes the dragon forward on the table.]
Anyway I made this for you. Finished it yesterday. Happy Snoggletog... I mean. Merry Christmas.

Date: 2011-12-20 08:22 am (UTC)[He says the name with the air of someone who's saying a foreign word. He's frowning now too, because the wheels are beginning to turn. This another experiment by Mayfield, clearly, but something has gone wrong. They're trying to see if they can make him think a drone is a real person, complete with false memories of them living in his house, but he doesn't have those memories and he can recognize that this is a drone.
Mayfield has never been this sloppy before. He'd be pleased to see them slipping, if this not knowing didn't bother him so much.
Wait. Wait. He knows where he's seen that face!]
You made that. Have you made any others like it?

Date: 2011-12-20 08:37 am (UTC)[He stands, expecting this drone that says it knows him to follow, and makes his way to the garage. On the workbench are several small clockworks, most of which are animals that Hiccup should recognize. Especially the one on the end, which looks like a night fury but with a few mistakes (Klaus only saw Toothless a few times, after all). Still, it's a good approximation, and even better is the small metal saddle its wearing, in which sits a small metal boy with a key in his back that is obviously meant to be wound. It looks quite a bit like Hiccup, down to tiny indents in the metal for his freckles.]
Explain that.

Date: 2011-12-20 06:28 pm (UTC)Hiccup tentatively reaches forward and touches the clockwork dragon, his jaw clenched, firmly trying not to cry. He won't. He gently inspects the excellent detail work of the clockwork, and when he responds he attempts nonchalance but the tightness in his voice gives him away.]
I guess you were making it for me before you forgot.
