[Klaus is droned. That much was obvious as soon as it happened. Hiccup has no idea if it's temporary or permanent, but either way it's depressing.

And then Hiccup ran into Astrid. The way she said hello immediately tipped him off to the fact that she was gone too. Astrid never talked like that.

So there it was. The man he looked up to as a father and the girl... well. They were gone. Talking to empty shells of them made him want to go somewhere quiet and smash his head against a wall. He didn't, of course. That would be stupid.

So instead he spends most of his time at the forge or just away from the house.

Hiccup, for the purposes of this post, can be found at the forge (339 Brady Lane), or in the park, just quietly sitting on a bench and watching the birds.]

[Phone: unfiltered]

Anyone who asked me to make them stuff, I've got most of it done now. Just give me an address and I can drop it off, or you can come by the forge and pick it up.

Anyone else who might want something just let me know.

[You know, for being an ex-law enforcer and apparently a firefighter now, you would figure Bridge would know how to find a place with a map right in front of his face. Or at least notice his surroundings. Instead, Hiccup may notice Bridge passing by several times before he finally realizes his destination has been right in front of his nose the whole time. And now Bridge will approach the boy!]

Uh, hey there! I'm supposed to be asking for a guy by the name of... Hiccup, I think?

[Aha! An instant smile would then appear on his face.]

Oh, cool! So, uh... Well, I guess I should introduce myself first. I'm Bridge Carson. Probably guessed that I'm kind of a newbie around here.

Well, a few days ago I met a very friendly doctor while shopping, and she explained a lot of stuff to me. Told me it would probably be a good idea to come see you? I'm just kind of unsure what to even ask for. I'm more experienced in technology based weapons than any melee weapons. Anything you'd suggest?

[Bridge seems to leave people stunned on a regular basis these days. Just... for way different reasons. He'll simply nod to the boy's question.]

Well, of course! I mean, you make them, right? You might know what's not too heavy, and maybe not too long? I know next to nothing about these things, honestly. I just need something I can protect people with. I... really don't like the idea of actually hurting anyone but, you know how it goes.

[Poor, poor Viking boy. Bridge trying to explain things is always hilariously awkward.]

Well, okay. While I was still a cadet at the academy, we just got this standard issue blasters. Not really all that strong and they had to be recharged almost every few hours. When I actually advanced to the ranger ranks, I got an awesome high-powered laser rifle. ...And then I got promoted again and got two even more high-powered laser pistols.

...Of course, that doesn't really help you out much, does it? That kind of technology really doesn't exist in the 50s. Oh, but my second gun was actually in two parts. The barrel could be used as a baton, so... I've got some minor experience in something like that, I guess?

I guess it's better to learn how to deal with things I'll probably be seeing more and more of, so I guess bladed would be fine. I know the Doc also recommended finding a sparring partner so I could actually learn how to use it properly.

[Cue the most hilarious weapons testing montage anyone has ever seen. He wasn't really used to swinging anything but his fists around so it'll take him a good few swings before he finally gets it down. And after a few minutes, he'll finally be done.]

Wow... that was something else. You don't really have to get too active when using firearms but this is actually a good thing. I was kind of worried how I would work out without the training courses we had back home.

[And now was the moment everyone was waiting for. Or not.]

Hm. I'd probably have to go with the sword. It's just a lot easier to swing for me. And if it's like you say, probably more people are using them so that's a lot more convenient. So, how much do I owe ya?

Uh, sure! Tell you what, if you ever need anything fixed, give me a call. I'm good fixing a lot of mechanical stuff. Even if I'm not really all that accustomed to stuff this only, it should only taking a little poking around to find the problem. Cars, toasters, radios. Anything like that.

Right, never know when you might need an extra hand. And thank you! I'll be sure to put this to good use. ...Once I figure out how to use it properly.

...Oh yeah, duh Bridge.

[He'll lightly punch the side of his head, giving another goofy smile.]

Well, guess I'll be heading back now. Was great meeting you and everything, Hiccup. I'm sure I'll stop by once I get a little better and think I can handle something else. Take care!
