[Hiccup's been slightly in a daze since the prom since. OMG PROM KING. wtf. Still not really sure what that means, he's trying to forget it happened.

Part of that includes getting back into the forging business. Which is why he's making this phone call.]

Hi everybody. Just thought you should know that I'm still doing stuff out at the forge. If anyone wants anything, just let me know and I can probably make it for you. All I need are specifications and materials or a way to get the materials I'll need.

Uh... yeah. Just let me know. Don't worry if you're wanting something complicated, either. I can probably figure it out. It'll make it more interesting, anyway.

And... I guess just as a side note I should thank everybody who voted for me. Uh. Yeah. Thanks. That was kind of fun, I guess.

You wouldn't by any chance be able to teach forge-work, would you?

Uh... maybe? I've never taught anyone before, and it... kind of takes a really long time to learn and get good at. I mean, I've been doing it all my life and it wasn't until only a year or two ago that I was really able to do stuff on my own.

Yes, it is a long-term project. Perhaps later.

Do I need to bring anything else besides the drawings?

Well if there's a specific type of material you want them made out of, then you should bring that. Otherwise I'm just going to use what I have.

I've been recycling the cans and such at the house out of habit, and wondered if that would help.

Hmm. Maaaaaybe. I haven't tried using cans yet. I'm not sure they'd be very good.

[ About a half-hour after the call, Ilsa is walking up the driveway to Quinn Hatch's place, remembering the directions from her visit before. ]

[ She is carrying a brown paper grocery bag. It's only been a couple of weeks since she got here, so the bag is only half-full of flattened steel cans. ]

[Hiccup's in the backyard, working at the small forge. He probably can't hear her approach.]

[ She follows the noise to the forge location, brightening when she recognizes the young man. ]

Hello!

[Hiccup hears her, puts down what he's doing, and turns around.]

Hi. Ilsa, right?

[ooeeooahah]

Yes!

[ She holds up the bag. ]

A small batch to start with, for experimentation. If I remember right, this stuff is steel with a tin plating overlay. If it doesn't work for weapons grade, maybe it will be useful in other things?

Cool. I'll see what I can do with it.

There's a technique for some blades where there's lots of layers of steel. [ She shrugs ] I don't know how they do it, just that the kitchen knives I have in that style are wonderful.

Oh! I also drew up the shape of the knife I'd like.

[ She hands Hiccup a picture of a simple knife: ]


If I could get this just a bit longer than from my wrist to my fingertip, would that be a size you can work with?

[Hiccup takes the picture and studies it.]

Yeah sure, no problem. Shouldn't be too hard. Do you only want just one?

One to start, yes. With one good dagger, I can get by with the trash steel in the kitchen for now. I understand there are a lot of people who need swords.

[ She grins, ] Though if you end up making two, I wouldn't be upset.

[He grins and shrugs.] I'll make one to start with to make sure you're happy with it and everything.
