[It is a beautiful spring day and Hiccup is sitting out on the front lawn with a screwdriver.

No, not that kind of screwdriver, an actual screwdriver.

He's making a few adjustments to his leg, you see. You know. The prosthetic one that has replaced his amputated left foot. That one.

Go ahead, talk to him. It's not like he's gotten enough comments on his leg yet. No, really.]

"I'm all right. I started working so I can fund more interesting projects. You?"

Not much. Just kind of getting back into the swing of... I dunno. Kind-of-sort-of-normal Mayfield.

"I'm not sure what my swing of things is... But I have Omoikane now, so its like having someone from home to help. I guess."

It's not really mine, but Quinn lets me use it whenever I want, so yeah.

"Next time you come over I could introduce you if you want."

[Welp Hiccup has had no experience with computers. Mayfield obviously doesn't have any, and neither did Berk. So.]

[She stops and looks around a bit]

"Are you going to that dance thing?"

[Hiccup nods.]

Yeah. My... one of my friends from back home recently arrived and... well I thought it would be fun if we went.

[He shrugs.]

"Catching up with friends from home is important. Tell me how it goes then."

[He hesitates]

Are you planning on going?

"Nobody has asked me to go, and if I'm just going to be on my own, I don't figure I need to waste 4 weeks wages on a dress so I'll probably stay home."

Huh? They cost that much? That's stupid. I mean, I'd say you could come with us just as... I dunno, a group of friends or something, but if the dress alone costs that much then I guess it doesn't matter that much.

"They do, they're all supposed to look different, and this place has bad design. Its silly, and I wouldn't want to interrupt your date. If someone asks me who isn't a complete idiot I'll go, otherwise, I'll have time to do some system checks on Omoikane and such."
