005 - Angels in my head (Phone + Action)
[After encountering the angels that morning, Hiccup had been feeling strangely all day.
His eyes hurt. They stung. There was something in them and he couldn't get it out. All day at school he was rubbing his eyes, and then... on his way home... he could swear he was hearing things. People.
Then when he got home, he put his hand on the doorknob and couldn't take it away. He stared at it.
His hand was stone.
It was stone.
Shutting his eyes tightly he shook his head. No, he told himself. That's stupid. My hand's fine. It's okay. Just open the door.
When he opened his eyes again, his hands were fine.]
[PHONE:] So uh... weird statues, right?
Um.
Is anyone else... seeing things?
[ACTION, 729 Anderson Lane:] [Hiccup is sitting on the couch, rubbing his eyes.
He can't stop rubbing his eyes.
It hurts. It hurts so much.]

lol story time
well, it used to be that dragons would attack our village all the time. steal food, burn down houses, all that. you weren't a real viking unless you could swing an axe and take down a dragon.
I... was never good at any of that. they put me as an apprentice to Gobber the blacksmith because my dad being the chief couldn't keep an eye on me and I was always getting into trouble.
anyway I just wanted to show him that I could be useful and be just like everyone else, but it never worked... until one night it actually did. I built a... a catapult, and I hit a night fury, which is the most rare dragon out there, impossible to see, deadly accurate, never steals food, you just hear the shriek of its flame and then your tower's exploded and there's no sign of it. so yeah I hit one but nobody believed me. I tracked it down and... I couldn't kill it.
I wouldn't kill it. he looked as scared as I felt so... I cut him free and was expecting to be killed but he just ran off. turned out he couldn't fly away because I had injured his tail.
they put me in dragon training to learn how to kill dragons and I pretty much sucked at it, but when I went back to see if the dragon was still there... he was. and. I started to get to know him. I named him Toothless and visited him every day. he became just a little bit friendly, especially when I stopped carrying a knife there and brought him fish.
as.... as I learned more about him, I got better in dragon training but only because I could get the dragons to... I don't know, stand down I guess, without actually hurting them. but I was only interested in getting to know Toothless. and then I built a replacement fin for his tail and... we started to learn to fly together.
we got found out, though, and they took him away to find out where the dragon nest was. but there was this big giant dragon there controlling all the other dragons, and when they attacked it came bursting out of the mountain and it took me and the other kids all riding on our dragons to kill it. well. in the end it was just me and Toothless. and then I lost my leg. and then I woke up here.
[he sighs.]
I told you it was a long story.
